Quick Overview

Franklin D. Roosevelt World War 2 Victory Loan Poster

Description: An image of Franklin D. Roosevelt hovers in the sky above a family standing near a grave site. On the horizon line is a cemetery monument (a cross with a wreath) and a view of the the rising sun. Between the image of F.D.R. and the family is the quote, "In the strength of great hope we must shoulder our common load." Below this quote in red capital letters it reads "BUY VICTORY BONDS". In the bottom right corner of the poster there is a logo of a wreath and torch which reads "Victory Loan" in front of it. At the very bottom in the left corner in small blue print it reads "U.S. Government Printing Office: 1945 - O - 662911". This is followed by, "An Official U.S. Treasurey Poster" written at the bottom of the poster in the middle. In the bottom right corner it says "WDF 32".

Size: 18.5" x 26"

Condition: As seen in the photo, the poster has been folded over once horizontally and twice vertically. It shows creases from being folded for many years. In the very middle of the poster the creases have started to form a small slit. It is not really noticeable when looking at the poster normally, but if you were to hold it up to a light, you would be able to see about 1/2" of light through the slit forming from the crease. This is easily fixed by some Filmoplast tape or some acid free linen tape, but its so minor I didn't want to mess with it. Otherwise there are no problems with the poster. No markings, all the corners are nice, no fading, looks great! If needed I can photograph the aforementioned slit, but I don't want to mess with it if I don't have to.

Creation Date: 1945

Creator: Beall, C. C. (Cecil Calvert), (1892-1967) of the United States War Finance Division & the United States Dept. of the Treasury.
